CP Open 06

Heisman Trophy winner and Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer has a heart for helping children and an aspiration to give back to those who live in his native Southern California.

In 2004, that desire brought him together with Hillview Acres Children’s Home and sparked the first Carson Palmer Open charity golf tournament. Now entering into its fifth year, the event has grown to be a tremendous success and a deeply valued source of support for the children at Hillview Acres. Its three year earnings exceed $400,000.

The Carson Palmer Open is just one of the ways that Palmer’s compassion and generosity have made an impact on Hillview Acres. Carson and his wife Shaelyn committed $250,000 towards Hillview’s new boys’ cottage in November 2006. The Carson and Shaelyn Palmer Cottage now serves as a home to 10 boys and three live-in staff.

Additionally, the quarterback has visited campus and treated some very excited Hillview kids to a shoe shopping excursion at Nike Town.

The children at Hillview Acres see Palmer as a hero—both athletically and personally. It brings them great joy to know he believes in them and works to ensure they have bright futures.

“As a kid growing up here, my family gave me all the love and support that I needed to pursue my dreams,” Palmer says. “I want to do my part to ensure that the children of Hillview Acres have the support they need to chase their dreams.”
