Listed below are several staff positions that Hillview recruits for on a regular basis. To inquire about a position, please contact our Operations Manager, Faith Fanning at (909) 628-1272 x219; faithfanning[at]hillview.org

Residential Counselor
Approximately three residential counselors—or “houseparents”—live with the children in each of our cottages. A houseparent provides supervision for the children, teams up with social workers and other residential counselors to implement treatment plans for individual children and for a cottage, builds positive relationships with the children, and keeps appropriate logs and paperwork. A houseparent also is expected to maintain a clean and orderly cottage living environment for the children. Tasks in this area include frequent cooking and cleaning. Houseparents work 5 days per week, and days off vary. A Bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred for this position.

Social Worker
Each of Hillview’s cottages is supervised by a Master’s level Social Worker. Some the main responsibilities for a Social Worker include creating and supervising the implementation of treatment plans for individual children, supervising cottage staff, working closely with referring agencies and county workers, maintaining children’s case files, coordinating children’s family visits and/or other appointments, participating in the screening of new placements, and building positive relationships with the children. This is a full-time, Monday through Friday position.

Summer Staff
The summer staff works with Social Workers and Residential Counselors to plan and supervise summer activities for groups of approximately 8 children. A summer staff is expected to build positive, trusting relationships with the children. This is a temporary, part-time position beginning in June and ending in August. Shifts are Monday through Friday from approximately 11:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Room and board is available for the duration of employment.

Night Staff
The night staff is responsible for supervising the children during the nighttime hours. Shifts are 5 nights a week from 10:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. Night staff perform regular “walk thrus” and are the first responders to any child situations that may occur during the night. Cottage social workers also may ask night staff to assist with laundry, paperwork, and other tasks. Like all Hillview employees, night staff are encouraged to develop positive, trusting relationships with the children.
